Meet Roselyn Mutongerwa, Supply Chain Analyst
Roselyn Mutongerwa, Supply Chain Analyst and member of the Supply Chain Management team, discusses her role and the development opportunities she's had since joining Agilisys Guernsey.
What is your role within Agilisys?
I am a Supply Chain Analyst in the Supply Chain Management team at Agilisys Guernsey. I spend most days helping to ensure the States of Guernsey's supply chain is working more effectively and efficiently.
My main focus is undertaking analysis of contracts and collaborating with the team to manage contracts effectively and strategically. I communicate regularly with suppliers and stakeholders within the business, and spend a large proportion of my time supporting in procurement and complex transformation projects, as well as drafting, reviewing and negotiating new contracts that will achieve the best possible value for money for the States.
Can you tell us more about your team?
The Supply Chain Management Team is quite small – there are just five of us in total. We are a diverse team, and we all bring different experiences having come from different professional backgrounds. We enjoy working strategically and collaboratively and I would say that we are young and vibrant! Each of us enjoys thinking creatively and innovatively about problems and issues that we face. We are all passionate about what we do, which makes it a fun and exciting team to be a part of.
How did you get to where you are now?
I studied Law at Edinburgh University and graduated in 2018. After university I moved to Dubai and worked within financial services in Dubai, gaining investment qualifications which highlighted my interest in the legal side of financial services.
I moved into financial services regulation in Guernsey where I was a Regulatory Analyst. In this role, I was regularly analysing the organisation's commercial agreements, regulations, and policies - and realised that it is something that I really enjoy.
Due to my legal training at university, I had an interest in contract analysis, and had a good understanding of the fundamentals of contract law, and the key elements of good and effective contracting.
What do you enjoy most about your job and working at Agilisys?
Working in a fast paced and dynamic environment is what I enjoy most. It is always exciting and there are so many amazing opportunities to learn and challenge myself. Over the past 6 months, I have learned a lot of key skills - just by surrounding myself with colleagues who are passionate about what they do.
It is a really innovative and collaborative environment and if you are ambitious, there are plenty of opportunities to take on more responsibilities and develop your skills and abilities quickly.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start their career in supply chain?
You do not have to be an expert in the field just yet. You just have to have a willingness to learn, be passionate about what you are doing and be keen to grow.
For me, listening and asking questions has helped a lot with my development and becoming more confident in my role. Now, I am involved in some really exciting procurement projects and complex transformation projects.
